Swieqi Phoenix Nium Claim Second Trophy of the Season

Swieqi Phoenix Nium have started the new volleyball season in impressive fashion, adding the Super Cup to the John Bugeja Cup they won just days earlier.
The reigning champions produced another dominant performance on Sunday afternoon, defeating Falcons 3–0 in the Super Cup final at the Cottonera Sports Complex.
Swieqi took control from the opening whistle, winning the first set convincingly, 25–9. They continued to dominate in the second set, again winning 25–9, before completing a commanding victory with a 25–10 win in the third.
Led by coaches Leonard Zammit Munro and Justin Montesin, Swieqi never allowed Falcons to find their rhythm and comfortably secured their second trophy of the season.
At the end of the final, Malta Volleyball Association President Mr Branko Vlahovic, presented the Super Cup trophy to Swieqi captain Mariana Zammit Munro.
The victory also saw Swieqi claim the Super Cup for the fifth time in the last six years, underlining their dominance in the competition.
Paola Executive Security Finish Second in John Bugeja Cup

The final match of the John Bugeja Cup was played on Saturday afternoon at the Cottonera Sports Complex, with Paola Executive Security securing second place after defeating Flyers 3–1.
Paola, the only First Division side participating in the competition, started strongly and took the opening set 25–23. Flyers responded in the second, winning 25–17, but the Paola side showed great character to regain control of the match.
Under the guidance of Michael Magro, Paola won the third set 25–21 before sealing the match with a 25–20 victory in the fourth.
Swieqi Phoenix Nium finished the competition at the top of the standings with 12 points. Paola Executive Security ended in second place with eight points, having lost only to Swieqi.
Birkirkara finished third with seven points, while Flyers collected three points. Falcons completed the standings without any points.
The John Bugeja Cup therefore provided an excellent start to the new season, with Swieqi claiming the first trophy and Paola showing that First Division opposition can compete strongly against Super League teams.
Under-19 and Under-17 Competitions Get Underway
The new season also got underway for the younger categories, with the Under-19 and Under-17 competitions beginning over the weekend.
The opening fixtures produced some convincing performances, including 3–0 victories for Flyers, Depiro and Swieqi Phoenix Block ‘N Roll.
