The competitions organised by the Malta Volleyball Association continued over the weekend at the Cottonera Sports Complex, with the senior matches once again taking centre stage.

The first senior encounter on Saturday saw the two Birkirkara teams face each other. Birkirkara VC emerged as comfortable 3–0 winners over Birkirkara Reds, claiming the sets 25–9, 25–23 and 25–12.

The second senior match also ended in a straight-sets victory, as reigning champions Swieqi Phoenix Nium defeated Falcons 3–0. Swieqi won the opening set 25–16 before securing the second 25–22 and comfortably taking the final set 25–13.

The most closely contested match of the weekend was the encounter between newly promoted Super League side Mgarr and First Division team Paola Executive Security. The match could have gone either way, but it was Paola who eventually emerged victorious with a 3–2 win.

Paola took an early two-set lead, winning the first set 28–26 and the second 25–19. Mgarr responded strongly, however, winning the next two sets by identical 25–19 scores to force a deciding 5th set. In the end, Paola Executive Security held their nerve to secure the victory, winning the last set 15–11.
