The series of matches which were played last week and over the weekend have sorted out the issue of who will be battling it out to win the first volleyball honour of the season, as the Women’s category of the the John Bugeja Tribute Matches Cup proceeds to its final stage, while the Men’s category witnessed yet another exciting match, something which has characterised this competition to date.

 

Matches played during the week in the Women’s category saw Fleur De Lys Twistees beat Paola 3-2 and later in the week beating Flyers2 3-0, to secure their place in the semi finals. Meanwhile, Flyers played and won their remaining group match against Mgarr 3-0 to also proceed to the semis. The weekend saw both Flyers and Fleur De Lys Twistees beat opponents Paola and Sliema respectively 3-0, to secure their place in the final, which will take place on Sunday 11th October at 3.30 pm at the Cottonera Sports Hall.

 

In the only match from the Men’s category of the John Bugeja Tribute Cup to be played over the weekend, Fleur De Lys Twistees had the better of Aloysians, three sets to one. During Tuesday’s match between Fleur De Lys Twistees and Valletta Mapei the Final Teams Fleur de Lys Twistees and Aloysians were determined after a thrilling victory by Fleur De Lys Twistess of 3-2 on Sunday 11th October at 5.30 pm at the Cottonera Sports Hall.
